As it celebrated its second anniversary on 1 June 2025, the Unified Patent Court has just published its 1000th decision.
This decision, taken by the Paris local division, is another important step, confirming the adoption of this jurisdiction by patent holders.
This also provides an opportunity to review the types of decisions that have been taken.
In terms of language, the majority of decisions were made in English (548), followed by German (390). The rest of the decisions were made in French (26), Italian (22), Dutch (11) and Danish (3). This confirms the predominance of international disputes and the industrial weight of Germany.
As for where these decisions were made, as you can see from the fact that German is the main language used, Munich accounts for a quarter of them (mainly the local division), followed by the Luxembourg Court of Appeal (almost a fifth) and Paris (with almost 15% of cases, two-thirds of which are handled by the central division and one-third by the local division).
