The web (World Wide Web) refers to all digital resources accessible via the Internet, including websites, multimedia content, databases, and online applications. In terms of intellectual property, the web is an environment for the distribution and exploitation of protected works and creations, but also a sensitive area for infringements such as content counterfeiting, unauthorised use of trademarks, or the reproduction of software and databases.

Infringements on the web can give rise to civil and criminal proceedings, including injunctions, damages, and penalties for counterfeiting, in the same way as for traditional infringements.
