A few reminders about geography and trademark law. Some are well known, others a little less so:
- Among the countries of the European Union, we no longer count the United Kingdom since the Brexit. And don’t forget that neither Switzerland nor Monaco nor Lichtenstein are members of the European Union. They are therefore not covered by the EU trademark, and if you or your clients are interested in these territories, you’ll need to protect them through an international registration, for example.
- Similarly, Greenland and the Feroe Islands are not covered by the EU trademark. They can, however, be designated through a national registration in Denmark
